| How come you are no longer offering next day UK Mainland Delivery? Due to the steep increase of petrol prices, and in turn courier fees, it is no longer possible to offer a continued next day service for the same reduced price. After speaking with many of you, it was deemed more important to retain the low standard delivery price of £4.95 (Free if order totals over £50) and change the time frame of delivery.

What is Ketosis? Ketosis is the physiological state that your body would automatically choose if you were to stop eating for a prolongued period of time i.e. if you were fasting or ill. By restricting the carbohydrates entering your body, it has to burn something for energy, so it reverts to saved stores of carbohydrate and fat. Ketosis is what turns you into a "fat burning machine"! How do I know if I am burning fat for energy? For those of you who have read the "Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution", you will be aware of a product called Ketostix sometimes called Lipolysis Strips). These are strips which you pass through your urine to measure the levels of ketones your body is creating. The more ketones, the deeper you are in ketosis, the darker pink/purple the stick will go, the more fat is being burnt to provide energy to your body.
What are Polyols? Polyols, sometimes referred to as "Sugar Alcohols" are sugar free sweeteners, these include isomalt, sorbitol, xylitol, maltol syrups (sometimes called hydrogenated starch hydrolysates). They contain fewer calories per gram than sugar and are less likely to cause tooth decay or alteration to the blood glucose level. In some cases, especially if eaten excessively, Polyols can cause gas or have a considerable laxative effect.
What are "Net" Carbs? The Net Carb (sometimes called digestible carb or effective carb) measure is used by low-carbers to identify the grams of carbohydrate per serving in a product that has a significant effect on your blood sugar. The language is a bit of a problem in the UK, some things labelled by the government as "Carbohydrate" actually dont act like normal carbohydrates in your body in that they dont have much, if any, effect on your blood sugar. Things like fibre and many sugar-free sweeteners fall into this category. So low-carbers can subtract these from the total carb count and come up with the Net Carb figure.
How do I calculate Net Carbs? Subtract "dietary fibre" and "sugar alcohols" (sometimes called "polyols", see previous answer) from the total carbs - these normally have minimal impact on blood sugar levels and therefore do not need to be counted, e.g. Total Carbs 14g, Less: Fibre (2g), Less: Maltitol (8g) = Net effective carbs 4g
What does Glycaemic Index (GI) mean? The Glycaemic Index gives every food with a significant amount of carbs in it a number from 1-100. The closer the number is to 100 the faster that food will release into your blood stream. Low GI dieters concentrate on only eating foods with low GI numbers (generally under 50). Due to the severely reduced levels of sugar and carbohydrate in ALL of our products, they are ALL naturally Low GI.
Product Shelf Life - "Best Before" and "Use By" Dates? Best Before dates are not the same as Use by dates. Most best before dates are set at about two thirds of a products total shelf life. The Use By date is when a product has reached the end of its' best. ALL products (unless otherwise stated) are within at least 30 days of their best before dates when despatched by us, many have 12 months and some have up to 3 years depending on the manufacturer. If you are in any doubt when placing your order, please do not hesitate to email us a list of the products you would like to purchase and we will do our best to inform you of the product shelf life.
Do products from other countries comply with EU standards? The answer is simply YES. All products coming into the UK for re-sale are closely scrutinised by a variety of governing bodies, including trading standards. So you, the consumer, can rest assured you are getting what you pay for, and the product description is accurate and in compliance with our guidelines.
